Discussion on Liang Qichao and the Transformation of Chinese Economic History
As an advocate and leader of Chinese economic history in its modern form,Liang Qichao wrote the first Chinese economic history treatise, and he proposed the creation of a specialized history of economy for the first time.In theory,he advocated replacing the history of monarchy by civil history and realizing the transformation of historical value standards. In practice, the publication of the book"The History of China's National Debt"can be regarded as the beginning of disciplinary transformation, and its merit was gradually appreciated in the domestic economic history circles. In terms of thinking style and research methods,Liang is the first person in China to try to study economic history using the economic paradigm, including focusing on historical materials, being proficient in textual research, emphasizing economic methods and being adept at theoretical analysis.Liang advocated breaking the boundaries of history research, interdisciplinary research, and introducing statistics into history. These theoretical propositions are not only the early landmark results of the initial transformation of the discipline, but also the theoretical basis for promoting the completion of the discipline transformation.
