Temporal trends of characteristics,resource usage and prognosis in critically ill patients
Critical care medicine is one of the fastest-growing areas of medicine in terms of patient numbers and an increasingly important part of countries'healthcare systems.However,in developing countries,the development of critical care medicine is relatively slow compared with developed countries due to the constraints of funds,personnel and medical resources.In recent years,with the aging of the population,the increase in the incidence of chronic diseases and the improvement of medical standards,the scale of intensive care units(ICUs)in various countries has been expanding,and the disease characteristics,resource usage and prognosis of ICU patients have become the"hot spots"of clinical work.This article mainly summarizes the temporal trends of ICU patient characteristics,resource usage and prognosis at home and abroad.
