Advance of molecular biology of invasive golden apple snail species in China
Golden apple snail is regarded as a serious invasive alien species and has become a great threat for crop production and aquatic ecosystems in China since its introduction in the early 1980s.Both species of golden apple snail Pomacea canaliculata and P.insularum have been reported in China and were also invasive species in Southeast Asian,South Asian,and North American countries.They have been studied widely globally.Now,we summarized the molecular biological research on these two apple snail species from three aspects,namely,molecular identification,phylogeny,and protein-coding genes study.We further discuss the future prospects for the research and application of the molecular study of golden apple snails.
