Effects of Pyrroloquinoline Quinone and Glucurolactone on Production Performance,Egg Quality,Plasma Hormone and Biochemical Indexes of Laying Hens During the Early Peak of Laying Period
This study aimed to investigate the effects of pyrroloquinoline quinone and glucurolactone on production perfor-mance,egg quality, plasma hormone and biochemical indexes of laying hens during the early peak of laying period.A total of 360 Hy-Line Brown laying hens with similar body weight and egg laying rate at 25 weeks of age were randomly divided into 4 groups with 6 replicates per group and 15 hens in each replicate. The control group was fed basic diet, while the experimental groups were as follows:basic diet+0.4 mg/kg PQQ(PQQ group);basic diet+300 mg/kg of glucuronolactone(glucuronolactone group);ba-sic diet+0.2 mg/kg PQQ+150 mg/kg glucuronolactone(PQQ+Glucuronolactone group). The adaptation period was 2 weeks, and the formal period was 8 weeks. The results showed as follows:Dietary PQQ,glucuronolactone,or both to the diet had no signifi-cant effect on production performance(P>0.05).Dietary PQQ,glucuronolactone,or both to the diet had no significant impact on egg quality(P>0.05).Compared with the control group, the plasma progesterone levels of laying hens PQQ and glucuronolactone group were significantly increased(P<0.05).Compared with the control group, the plasma triglyceride levels of laying hens in glucuronolactone group were significantly decreased(P<0.05).Additionally,the plasma aspartate aminotransferase activity of lay-ing hens in PQQ group and PQQ+glucuronolactone group were significantly reduced(P<0.05).The overall results suggested that pyrroloquinoline quinone and glucuronolactone did not significantly improve the production performance or egg quality of laying hens during the early peak production period, but could significantly increase hormone levels, decrease triglyceride level and as-partate aminotransferase activity, thereby regulate physiological levels and prevent diseases.
