Isolation,Identification and Biological Characteristics of Escherichia coli from Chicken in Some Areas of Jiangsu Province
To investigate the serotypes, virulence genes distribution, evolutionary clusters and drug resistance of Escherichia coli(E.coli)from chickens in Jiangsu province,44 strains of chicken E.coli were isolated and identified from suspected cases of E.coli infection in chicken farms in some areas of Jiangsu province. The plate agglutination method was used to detect the O-anti-gen serotypes of the isolates,PCR method was used to detect the distribution of virulence genes and the phylogenetic classifica-tion of isolates, and the Kirby-Bauer paper diffusion method was used to detect the drug resistance of isolates. The results showed that there were 38 O-antigen serotype strains of 44 isolates with a total of 17 serotypes,of which O138(15.8%),O86(13.2%),O54(10.5%)and O14(10.5%)were the dominant serotypes;fimC and yijp had the highest detection rate, which were 100%(44/44),followed by mat, iucD,ompA,and iss, with 97.73%(43/44),84.09%(37/44),79.55%(35/44),and 59.09%(26/44),respectively,and all the isolated strains contained simultaneously three or more virulence genes; The isolats mainly belonged to groups A and D,accounting for 38.64%and 31.83%,respectively,and a few belonged to groups B1 and B2,accounting for 11.36%and 18.18%,respectively.All 44 isolates were 100%resistant to erythromycin, clindamycin and vancomycin,86.36%resistant to tet-racycline and cotrimoxazole, and the phenomenon of multiple drug resistance was obvious. The study suggested that the serotypes of E.coli from chickens in some areas of Jiangsu province were complex and diverse, carried multiple virulence genes, and had a serious drug resistance problem. It was necessary to strengthen the monitoring of local drug-resistant bacteria so as to select ap-propriate drugs to prevent and control of chicken colibacillosis.
