Effects of Egg Weight on Hatching Performance of Huoyan Goose
This experiment was conducted the effects of egg weight on fertilization rate, hatching rate, healthy goslings rate, weight loss rate during incubation period and and male-to-female ratio of Huoyan goose. The eggs laid by the 32-week-age Huoyan goose were selected and the weight of the eggs was weighed. Then, the eggs were divided into 4 groups, group A(120.0-124.9 g),group B(125.0-129.9 g),group C(130.0-134.9 g)and group D(135.0-139.9 g)with 5 replicates each group and 60 eggs each re-peat,300 eggs each group and 1 200 eggs in total. The incubation period was 31 days under the same environmental conditions. After the incubation period, the birth weight of all the goslings was weighed, and the indicators such as fertilization rate, hatching rate, weight loss rate during incubation period, healthy goslings rate and male-to-female ratio of each experimental group were calculated. The results showed as follows:① The egg weight of the geese was approximately normal distribution, and the number of eggs weighing in the range of 125.0-129.9 g was the most.② There was no significant difference in fertilization rate between groups A,B and C(P>0.05),but there were significant differences between group D and other groups(P<0.05).There were sig-nificant differences in hatching rate between different groups(P<0.05),and group B had the best incubation effect.③ There were significant differences in the healthy goslings rate between different groups(P<0.05),and group B was the best.④ There was sig-nificant positive correlation between egg weight and birth weight(P<0.05),and significant negative correlation with weight loss rate during incubation period(P<0.05).⑤ There was no significant difference in the rate of male and female among the groups(P>0.05).Therefore,the hatching rate and healthy goslings rate of breeding egg of Huoyan goose breeding egg between 125.0 g to 129.9 g was better.
