Effect of Different Combinations of Padding Thickness and Feeding Density on Growth Performance of Yellow Feathered Broiler Chickens
To study aimed to investigate the effects of different combinations of padding thickness and stocking density on growth performance of yellow feathered chickens.A total of one-day-age Yellow Chicken No.2 cockerels were used as experimental animals and divided into 6 treatment groups. Two bedding thicknesses(3 cm and 8 cm)and four density gradients(10 chickens/m2,12 chickens/m2,14 chickens/m2,16 chickens/m2)were set up,with 5 replicates in each treatment group. The results showed that under the condition of 8 cm litter thickness, compared with the groups of 12 chickens/m²,14 chickens/m² and 16 chickens/m²,the feed conversion ratio of the group with a stocking density of 10 chickens/m² was 2.30,which was reduced by 0,0.03 and 0.07;The daily feed intake was 71.9 g,which was increased by 2.9 g,3.3 g and 5.1 g;The daily weight gain was 31.3 g,which was increased by 1.4 g,1.7 g and 3.1 g;The litter temperature was 31.0℃,which was reduced by 1.4℃,1.6℃and 2.4℃;The uniformity of broilers was 72.2%,which was reduced by 2.4%and increased by 10.2%and 11.9%.Under the density condition of 10 chickens/m²,compared with the 8 cm litter group, the 3 cm litter group had a daily weight gain of 1 g higher,a feed conversion ratio of 0.03 lower,a daily feed intake of 3.2 g higher,a litter temperature of 3.7℃lower,a broiler uniformity of 7.2%higher.Under the density condition of 16 chickens/m²,compared with the 8 cm litter group, the 3 cm litter group had a daily weight gain of 1.8 g higher,a daily feed intake of 4.2 g higher,a litter temperature of 3.9℃lower,a broiler uniformity of 9.7%higher.The various animal welfare indicators of the 8 cm litter thickness group were improved compared with the 3 cm litter thickness group. As the stocking density gradually increased from 10 chickens/m² to 16 chickens/m²,the scores of feather pollution, damage, and breast cyst showed an increasing trend.Based on the results of this experiment and combined with the feeding points of promoting feed intake and weight gain in the hot season,it is recommended that the stocking density of yellow feathered chickens in open flat chicken houses be 10 chickens/m²,and the litter thickness be set at 3 cm.
