Research on Emergency Medicine Teaching Based on STEAM Concept and PBL Teaching Method
Objective To analyze the application effect of STEAM[S(science),T(technology),E(engineering),A(art),M(mathematics)]concept combined with PBL teaching method in emergency medicine teaching.Methods A total of 80 clinical medical interns in the emergency department of Binzhou Medical College from June 2021 to June 2022 were selected as the study objects and randomly divided into the control group and the experimental group,with 40 interns in each group.The control group received traditional teaching,and the experimental group received STEAM based combined PBL teaching.The results of theoretical knowledge and practical operation test,interns'satisfaction with teaching,learning compliance and interns'professional trait score before and after teaching were compared between the two groups.Results Before the teaching,there was no significant difference between the two groups(P>0.05).After 3 months of teaching,the test scores of basic theory and practical operation of 2 groups were significantly improved,but the improvement of experimental group was greater,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The learning compliance of interns in experimental group(97.50%)was higher than that in control group(85.00%),and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The scores of teaching methods,academic ability and teaching attitude management quality in experimental groups were higher than those in control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.001).Before the teaching,there was no significant difference between the two groups(P>0.05).After 3 months of teaching,the scores of experimental group were higher than those of control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.001).Conclusion In the teaching of emergency medicine,the combination of STEAM concept and PBL teaching method is conducive to improving the comprehensive ability of interns,improving their theoretical and practical achievements,and improving their learning compliance.
