Application of CBL and Mini-CEX Combined With SimMan 3G Teaching Mode in Emergency Department Teaching
Objective To observe the teaching effectiveness of case-based learning(CBL)and mini-clinical evaluation exercise(Mini-CEX)combined with the third generation intelligent simulator(SimMan3G)in the emergency department teaching process.Method From June 2021 to June 2022,a total of 58 undergraduate clinical medical students from the emergency department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Bengbu Medical University were selected as teaching subjects.Following the principle of random grouping, they were divided into a traditional group and an experimental group, with 29 students in each group. The traditional group was given the traditional teaching mode, while the experimental group was given the CBL and Mini-CEX combined Sim Man 3G teaching mode. Two groups are taught for 3 months. The satisfaction level of two groups of medical students with the teaching mode by calculating their assessment scores, teaching quality, and Mini CEX scale evaluation scores were compared. Results The written test scores[(96.57±3.33)points]and operational scores[(92.39±1.79)points]of the experimental group were higher than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.001).After 3 months of teaching, the scores of skill operation, coordination and cooperation,doctor-patient communication, emergency response ability, and service attitude in the experimental group were higher than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.001).The scores of inquiry ability, physical examination ability, diagnostic ability, communication skills, humanistic literacy, overall clinical ability, and organizational ability in the experimental group Mini-CEX were relatively higher, and there was a significant difference compared to the traditional group(P<0.001).The satisfaction rate was 96.55%in the experimental group, higher than 72.41%in the traditional group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The comprehensive integration of CBL,Mini-CEX,and SimMan3G simulated human applications in the teaching process of emergency department can further improve the comprehensive abilities of clinical medical students, help improve assessment scores, improve teaching quality.
