Study on the Complementary Role of Mixed Group Teaching in the Training of Two Types of Ophthalmology Graduate Students
Objective To explore the feasibility and effect of the mixed group teaching in the training of professional and academic graduate students in ophthalmology.Methods A total of 43 postgraduate students in the ophthalmology department of West China Hospital,Sichuan University from September 2022 to January 2023 were selected as the study subjects.This paper adopted the teaching mode of mixed group meeting system,and holded a mixed group meeting every two weeks.The mixed group teaching was adopted,and the mixed group meeting was held once every two weeks.The contents of the mixed group meeting included literature reading,case report,project progress report,principle analysis of ophthalmic examination equipment and report interpretation.After the completion of 10 mixed groups,the teaching achievements were evaluated,including the group meeting effect,literature reading ability,scientific research literacy,understanding of ophthalmology professional knowledge,clinical diagnosis and treatment thinking,interpretation and application of clinical examination results,and the assessment was carried out through the combination of closed-book examination and questionnaire survey.Results After the mixed group teaching,the objective teaching evaluation scores of professional and academic postgraduates were higher than those before the mixed group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Professional graduate students and academic research students all believe that the mixed group meeting system has improved its teaching effect in six aspects group meeting effect,literature reading ability,scientific research accomplishment,understanding of ophthalmology professional knowledge,clinical diagnosis and treatment thinking,interpretation and application ability of clinical examination results,and has achieved varying degrees of gains in clinical and scientific research quality training,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The mixed group teaching is a teaching method that can effectively improve the teaching effect of ophthalmology,and can help professional graduate students and academic graduate students to improve their scientific research quality and clinical thinking more comprehensively.
