Exploration on CBL+PBL Combined With SP Teaching Method in the Training of Neurosurgery Graduate Sudents
Objective To explore the application effect of case-based learning(CBL)and problem-based learning(PBL)combined with standardized patients(SP)teaching method in the training of neurosurgery graduate students. Methods A total of 60 graduate students from three grades in the department of neurosurgery at the First Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University were selected from August 2020 to August 2022.They were divided into traditional teaching group,CBL+PBL group, and CBL+PBL+SP group in order of enrollment, with 20 students in each group. After 3 months of enrollment training, evaluated the comprehensive assessment, clinical skills, medical record quality,SP evaluation, and self perception ability of students. Results The basic theoretical and case analysis scores of the CBL+PBL group and the CBL+PBL+SP group after class were better than those of the traditional teaching group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The physical examination, lumbar puncture, and imaging data interpretation of the CBL+PBL+SP group were superior to those of the other two groups, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The medical record writing scores of the CBL+PBL group and the CBL+PBL+SP group were both better than those of the traditional teaching group, and the difference were statistically significant(P<0.05).The SP comprehensive evaluation scores, student satisfaction, skills and knowledge absorption ability,doctor-patient communication skills, learning motivation,understanding,teacher-student interaction, course time spent,after-school exams, clinical thinking ability,self-learning ability, teamwork ability, and project completion ability of the CBL+PBL group and the CBL+PBL+SP group were all better than those of the traditional teaching group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The CBL+PBL combined with SP teaching method has certain advantages in improving the clinical operation skills,doctor-patient communication skills, knowledge understanding, and absorption ability of graduate students. It is a more effective method for graduate education.
