Objective To construct a formative evaluation system based on a blended online and offline teaching model of small private online courses(SPOC),and explore its practical effect in undergraduate clinical pharmacy students in the teaching of Pharmacotherapy. Methods A total of 68 students majoring in Clinical Pharmacy from the school of pharmacy,Chongqing Medical University from September 2019 to September 2021 were selected as the observation group, and 67 students majoring in Clinical Pharmacy from the 2016 cohort as the control group. The observation group was taught with a blended learning model based on SPOC,while the control group was taught with traditional teaching methods. The teaching effectiveness was evaluated by assessing students'final exam scores, teaching satisfaction, average weekly visits to the teaching platform, and average duration of watching course videos. Results The observation group performed better than the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The teaching satisfaction of the observation group in all aspects was better than those of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The observation group had an average of(20.41±2.23)visits to courses per week on the SPOC teaching platform, significantly higher(6.70±1.40)visits of the control group, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.001).The average weekly time spent watching course videos in the observation group was(139.77±2.67)minutes,higher than(65.46±2.40)minutes of the control group, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.001).Conclusion The teaching of Pharmacotherapy based on the SPOC blended teaching model is not only beneficial for improving student learning efficiency, but also for enhancing teaching quality.
