Application of Narrative Medicine Combined With Scenario Simulation Teaching Mode in Pediatric Clinical Probation
Objective To explore the effect and feasibility of the narrative medicine combined scenario simulation teaching model in pediatric clinical probation for clerks to improve empathy,communication ability,and the degree of pediatric theory mastery.Methods A total of 71 five-year clinical medicine students of grade 2019 of Sun Yat-sen University,who were admitted to the department of pediatrics,the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-Sen University from November 2022 to May 2023,were selected as the research objects.The trainee doctors were randomly divided into 37 in the study group and 34 in the control group.The control group received traditional probation according to the pediatric probation teaching outline.In addition to traditional probation,the study group added the content of narrative medicine combined with situational simulation teaching.Evaluated students'empathy level,communication ability,and mastery of pediatric theoretical knowledge using scales and exam before and after probation.Results Before probation,there was no statistical significance in the scores of empathy level between the two groups(P>0.05).After probation,the scores of empathy level of students in both groups were higher than those before probation.The score of empathy level in the study group was higher than that in the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The scores and total scores of doctor-patient communication skills in the study group were higher than those in the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The theoretical test score of the study group was(79.26±8.64)points,higher than that of the control group(74.21±9.24)points,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The integration of narrative medicine combined with scenario simulation into pediatric probation is effective and feasible,which can significantly improve the quality of pediatric probation and greatly benefit the cultivation of students'humanistic literacy.The new teaching mode is suitable for widespread application in pediatric clinical teaching.
