Application of MOOCs Combined With PBL Teaching Model in the Teaching of Otorhinolaryngology for Undergraduates in Pediatrics
Objective To explore the effect of massive open online courses(MOOCs)combined with problem based learning(PBL)in the teaching of otorhinolaryngology majors in paediatrics. Methods A total of 140 undergraduate students of pediatrics in 2017 were selected from Guizhou Medical University from August 2021 to August 2022.According to the method of random number table, the students were divided into control group and study group, with 70 students in each group. The control group was given the traditional pediatrics undergraduate teaching mode, and the study group was given MOOCs combined with PBL teaching mode.At the end of the semester, the examination scores, student evaluation results, student satisfaction and teacher evaluation results of the two groups were observed. Results At the end of the semester, the score of the final exam was(93.53±6.72)points,the average score of the class test was(89.37±6.87)points,the score of the after-class paper was(86.35±6.32)points,the score of the active discussion was(85.31±5.72)points and the total score was(91.56±5.35)points of the study group, which were higher than those of the control group[(83.25±6.45)points,(86.34±7.21)points,(78.53±6.17)points,(68.53±5.41)points,(81.25±6.27)points](P<0.05).The satisfaction and overall satisfaction in promoting knowledge mastery, improving learning efficiency, stimulating learning interest, cultivating autonomous learning ability, cultivating problem analysis and solving ability, and cultivating clinical thinking were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).The scores of literature access ability, clinical thinking ability, autonomous learning ability,problem-raising and problem-solving ability in the control group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion MOOCs combined with PBL teaching mode can significantly improve the academic performance of paediatrics undergraduates majoring in otorhinolaryngology and cultivate their clinical thinking, autonomous learning, analysis and problem-solving ability.and improve their teaching satisfaction.
