The Role of PBL Teaching Method in Cultivating Critical Thinking of Pediatric Interns
Objective To explore the effect of problem-based learning(PBL)on critical thinking ability of pediatric clinical probation students. Methods From September 2021 to December 2021,a total of 90 pediatric clinical clerkship students from 3 classes in grade 2018 of the First Clinical Medical College of Xuzhou Medical University in the Affiliated Hospital of Xuzhou Medical University were selected as the research objects.According to the random number table method, they were divided into the control group(n=45)and the experimental group(n=45),and the traditional teaching and PBL teaching were implemented respectively. After the teaching, the basic knowledge and case analysis ability of the two groups of students were evaluated by questionnaire survey.Chinese version of critical thinking ability scale(CCTDI-CV)was used to evaluate students'critical thinking ability before and after teaching. Results After the probation teaching, there was no statistical difference between the test group and the control group in the score of basic knowledge(P>0.05),but the case analysis score of the test group was higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Before the probation teaching, the scores of CCTDI-CV(analytical,systematic,intellectual curiosity,self-confidence,truth seeking, openness of mind and cognitive maturity)of the experimental group and the control group had no statistical significance(P>0.05).After the probation teaching, the scores of the experimental group were significantly better than those of the control group in terms of intellectual curiosity and truth seeking. The difference was statistically significant(P<0.05),but there was no significant difference in other scores(P>0.05).Conclusion The application of PBL teaching method in pediatric clinical probation is beneficial to improve students'critical thinking ability and case analysis ability.
