Application Effect of Mind Mapping in the Training of Thoracentesis for Pediatric Undergraduates
Objective To explore the application effect of mind mapping in the training of thoracocentesis for pediatric undergraduates. Methods A total of 76 undergraduate students who rotated at Children's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University from July 2021 to July 2022 were selected as the research subjects and randomly divided into the study group and the control group, with 38 students in each group. The control group used traditional teaching methods, while the study group added mind mapping on the basis of traditional teaching methods. After training, the teaching effectiveness of the two groups were evaluated through unified assessment and questionnaire survey. Results After training, the theoretical knowledge scores[(91.47±7.52)points]and operational skills scores[(90.35±6.75)points]of the study group were higher than those of the control group[(83.65±6.49)points,(82.71±6.34)points],and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.001).After training, the self-rating scale of self-directed learning-Chinese Version(SRSSDL-CV)score of the study group was(218.43±18.34)points,which was higher than(175.97±15.67)points of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.001).After training, the scores of directly observed procedural skills such as clear operation purpose and significance[(8.65±0.23)points],communication with patients and obtaining informed consent[(8.67±0.21)points],mastery of operation-related knowledge and process[(8.68±0.18)points],operation technical ability[(8.78±0.32)points],preparation before operation[(8.98±0.21)points],seeking help in a timely manner when needed[(8.65±0.31)points],aseptic operation[(8.75±0.35)points],communication skills[(8.65±0.46)points],post-operation disposal[(8.78±0.35)points],overall performance evaluation[(8.79±0.31)points],professional quality score[(8.95±0.26 points]were higher than those of the control group[(7.87±0.21)points,(7.46±0.18)points,(7.35±0.25)points,(7.64±0.34)points,(8.12±0.12)points,(7.65±0.42)points,(7.72±0.32)points,(7.68±0.35)points,(7.35±0.26)points,(7.15±0.21)points,(7.25±0.16)points],the differences were statistically significant(P<0.001).After training, the score of students'evaluations of educational quality(SEEQ)of the study group was(145.62±6.17)points,which was higher than(124.38±5.89)points of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.001).Conclusion In the thoracentesis training for pediatric undergraduate, the application of mind mapping teaching can effectively enhance students'self-directed learning ability, improve the level of thoracentesis, and the satisfaction with teaching of students is higher.
