The Influence of Anatomy-Based Drawing-Oriented Examination on Surgical Interns'Active Learning Ability
Objective To explore the influence of using hand-drawn anatomical drawings in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery on students'active learning, interest and communication skills during internship. Methods A total of 43 clinical medical undergraduates of Grade 2018 in the department of hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery in the Eighth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University from June 2022 to May 2023 were selected as the research objects, and the rotation time of each intern was 2 weeks. At the time of entrance education,it was explained that a hand-drawn anatomical drawing of liver, gallbladder, pancreas and spleen should be submitted for examination, and the hand-drawn anatomical drawing should be collected at the time of examination. In the form of questionnaire, the influence of traditional assessment mode and hand-drawn anatomical drawing questions on students'active learning, interest in participating in assessment and communication ability were compared. Results A total of 43 complete anatomical hand drawings were collected,of which 30 clinical medical undergraduates were drawn in a variety of colors in grade A,32 clinical medical undergraduates were drawn in grade B with a position proportion basically in line with the normal human body structure, and 11 clinical medical undergraduates were drawn in grade C.Compared with the traditional examination mode of other departments,60%of the students thought that anatomical drawing questions could increase their interest in participating in the examination and their willingness to participate in or observe the operation;92%of the students believed that in order to draw anatomical maps, they would take the initiative to spend more time studying and studying anatomical maps;76%of the students would be happy to share and discuss hand-drawn anatomical drawings with other students. Conclusion Incorporating hand drawn anatomy questions into the graduation assessment can help to enhance students'ability to actively learn during internships, their willingness to participate in or observe surgeries, increase their interest in learning and preparing for exams,at the same time, improve the ability of communication and expression.
