Application of Mini-CEX and DOPS Dual Track Formative Evaluation System in Standardized Residency Training of Hematology
Objective To investigate the application value of mini clinical evaluation exercise(Mini-CEX)combined with direct observation of procedural skills(DOPS)dual-track evaluation system in standardized training of resident physicians in the department of hematology. Methods From October 2021 to December 2022,a total of 72 trainers who received standardized training as residents in the Department of Hematology of the First Affiliated Hospital of Kangda College,Nanjing Medical University were selected as the research subjects and randomly divided into control group and observation group. The control group received routine clinical teaching activities. The observation group was included in the Mini-CEX combined with DOPS formative evaluation system on the basis of traditional teaching. At the end of the rotation, the two groups simultaneously underwent Mini-CEX,DOPS assessments,as well as routine theoretical, medical record writing quality and operational skills assessments for graduation. The assessment results and the teaching effectiveness were compared. Results There was a statistically significant difference in the theoretical assessment scores, medical record writing quality and skill operation scores between the two groups[(84.27±5.89)points vs.(81.43±3.13)points,(81.89±3.85)points vs.(79.69±3.57)points,(86.95±4.96)points vs.(83.66±4.52)points],the difference were statistically significant(P<0.05).The observation group's Mini-CEX assessment scale scores,DOPS assessment scores, and various assessment scores for graduation were significantly higher than those of the control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The scores of satisfaction survey at the end of standardized training showed that, the satisfaction of group with the dual track evaluation system of Mini-CEX combined with DOPS was higher than those of control group(P<0.05).Conclusion The application of Mini-CEX combined with DOPS dual track formative assessment in hematology residential training can significantly improve the clinical theoretical and practical skills of residential trainers.
