Application of PBL Combined With Seminar Mode in Cardiovascular Disease Clinical Practice for International Students
Objective To explore the application effect of problem-based learning(PBL)combined with Seminar mode in the clinical internship of cardiovascular diseases for international students. Methods From September 2020 to September 2021,a total of 60 international students in the class of 2016 and 2017 who were interns in the department of cardiovascular medicine of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University were enrolled in the study. The traditional teaching mode, which mainly relies on teacher instruction, was adopted for the control group. The students in the experimental group were required to complete their cardiology clerkship by implementing the PBL combined with Seminar mode. The students'attendance rate and the evaluation of course satisfaction, the evaluation of teacher probation, and the comprehensive evaluation of probation were compared. Results The students'attendance rate of the two teaching modes and the students'satisfaction rating of the course in the experimental group were higher than those in the traditional teaching group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The evaluation indicators of teacher probation in the experimental group, including participation degree, analytical reasoning ability, problem solving ability, literature review, inductive learning ability, innovative thinking, communication and expression ability, and teamwork ability, were also higher than those in the control group, with statistical significance(P<0.001).The score of probation comprehensive examination in experimental group[(89.75±3.60)points]was higher than that in control group[(81.61±4.22)points],and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.001).Conclusion PBL combined with Seminar mode is more conducive to improving the independent learning initiative of clinical internship, the cultivation of clinical thinking and the mastery of key knowledge of cardiovascular internship,so as to improve the teaching quality of cardiovascular internship for international students.
