Current Status and Countermeasures of Core Competence of Respiratory Specialized Nurses
Objective To comprehensively understand the current situation of the core competence of respiratory specialized nurses through the method of combining qualitative and quantitative research,so as to provide scientific basis for formulating appropriate training strategies and improving the core competence of respiratory specialized nurses.Methods From March to May 2023,a total of 320 respiratory specialized nurses from Chongqing,Sichuan,Guizhou,Shaanxi,Hebei,Hubei,Yunnan and Hainan provinces and municipalities directly under the central government from 2017 to 2022 who participated in the study in the Chongqing Respiratory Specialized Nurse Training Base were investigated by general situation questionnaire and core competence assessment scale for respiratory specialized nurses,and 16 respiratory specialized nurses were selected for qualitative interviews.A total of 320 questionnaires were distributed,and 314 valid questionnaires were collected,with an effective response rate of 98.1%.Results The total score of core competence of respiratory specialized nurses was(196.99±13.86)points,which was in the lower middle level.Multiple stepwise regression analysis showed that hospital grade,years of work in specialty and educational background were the main factors affecting the core competence of respiratory specialized nurses.The themes extracted from the qualitative interview included urgent needs of respiratory specialized nurses,urgent need to improve core competence,certain conditions and qualifications for competence,measures to improve core competence,and good development prospects.Conclusion Guided by improving the core competence of respiratory specialized nurses,the core competence of respiratory specialized nurses can be improved by strengthening the training and use of respiratory specialized nurses,improving the training,assessment and evaluation system of respiratory specialized nurses,attaching importance to weak links,and formulating corresponding training plans according to the influencing factors of core competence.
