Application of Cambridge Structural Database and Diamond Crystallography Software in the Teaching of Medicinal Chemistry
The mastery of drug structure can be regarded as the starting point,foothold and main research point in the study of medicinal chemistry.However,due to the complex structure of drug molecules,or the two-dimensional plane of the textbook is not facilitate to display the three-dimensional spatial structure of drug molecules,students do not understand the relevant descriptions in the textbook,which hinders the follow-up study.Through the use of the Cambridge structural database(CSD)and Diamond crystallography software,this course group intends to use computer technology to achieve high dimensional,visual and dynamic performance.The drug molecular structure can be present in front of students in an all-round way without dead corners,so that the original abstract and obscure structure description can be visualized,which helps students to understand and master the complex drug structure,dredge the long-standing blocking point in the teaching and learning of drug structure,and further improve the teaching quality.This paper lists two cases of CSD combined with Diamond software applied in the teaching of medicinal chemistry,and introduces the concrete implementation process of the cases in detail,which provides referential experience for its application in the course of medicinal chemistry.
