Exploration on the Principal Investigator System in Cultivating Innovative Capabilities of Clinical Medical Postgraduates Under the Model of"Four Certificates in One"
With the continuous development of the international medical field and national healthcare strategies continue to evolve, the demand for innovative talents in the medical field is experiencing unprecedented growth. However, graduate education in clinical medicine in China is presently confronted with challenges related to rapid increases in enrollment and declining training quality. The aim of this study is to provide an in-depth analysis and assessment of an innovation-oriented training model for clinical medical graduate students, grounded in the principal investigator(PI)system.Utilizing a comprehensive literature review, this article explore the roles, mechanisms, and methodologies employed by institutions adopting the PI-based training model for both clinical medical graduate students and their supervising faculty. This findings indicate that under the aegis of the PI-based educational paradigm, clinical medical graduate students display elevated levels of academic innovation, research competence, and critical reasoning skills.Nevertheless, this model is not without its challenges, including ambiguous role definitions for mentors, teams, and students,an underdeveloped training methodology and institutional framework,as well as complexities associated with the model of"four certificates in one".The innovation capabilities cultivated in clinical medical graduate students under this model are characterized by data-driven approaches, interdisciplinary collaboration,a global perspective,a sense of social responsibility,as well as enhanced independent and critical thinking skills
