Objective To explore the application effect of evidence-based medicine(EBM)-patients-intervention-comparison-outcome-study(PICOS)mode combined with guided teaching method in clinical teaching of general surgery.Methods A total of 72 undergraduate students majoring in clinical medicine who underwent clinical internships at general surgery department,West China Hospital from June 2022 to June 2023 were randomly divided into a control group and a combination group,with 36 students in each group.The control group was taught with traditional mode teaching,while the combination group was taught with EBM-PICOS mode combined with guided learning teaching method.The assessment results,independent learning ability and satisfaction of the two groups of interns before and after practice were compared.Results After 4 weeks of practice,the results of theoretical knowledge,medical record analysis and skill operation in the combination group were(95.37±2.16)points,(95.03±2.81)points and(94.04±3.83)points,respectively,which were higher than those in the control group[(93.55±2.76)points,(92.42±3.42)points and(90.95±3.45)points].The differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After 4 weeks of practice,the total scores of self-motivated belief,objective behavior and independent learning ability of the combined group were(43.67±4.18)points,(117.85±9.53)points and(161.52±9.75)points,which were higher than the control group[(38.93±4.51)points,(101.46±8.34)points,(140.39±9.33)points],and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.001).The satisfaction of combination group was 100%higher than that of control group(83.33%),and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The EBM-PICOS mode combined with guided learning teaching method has a significant effect in clinical teaching of general surgery,which can improve interns'academic performance,self-learning ability,and satisfaction.
