Virtual reality(VR)and augmented reality(AR)are new immersive experience technologies that have been widely used in the medical field in recent years.This article first discusses virtual reality and augmented reality technology and its application in clinical practice and medical education in subjects such as surgery,obstetrics,rehabilitation medicine and medical imaging through the summary and analysis of existing research and practice.Secondly,the application of VR and AR technology in the training of neurosurgery residents is discussed.The application of VR and AR technology in microcraniotomy teaching,craniocerebral puncture teaching,neurointerventional therapy teaching and basic neuroanatomy teaching is emphasized.This medical practice teaching mode may be the trend of future clinical practice teaching,which is more innovative and has better practical effect.This article summarizes and analyzes existing research and practice,puts forward the advantages and disadvantages of the application of VR and AR technology in the standardized training of neurosurgery residents,and looks forward to the future development trend.
