On-Site Technical Interpreting Characteristics and Strategies Based on SWOT Analysis
This article analyzes the characteristics of on-site technical interpreting considering linguistics,classi-fication,work conditions,and technical knowledge,highlighting both the positive and negative aspects.It is im-portant to note that on-site technical interpreting encompasses both consecutive interpreting and liaison interpre-ting.One notable feature is its relatively high tolerance for wording,styling,and grammatical issues.Moreover,on-site technical interpreting is highly interactive,typically occurring face-to-face in a less formal setting.Howev-er,there are several challenges faced by on-site technical interpreters,including difficulties in listening compre-hension,fast delivery speed,lack of technical background knowledge,high psychological pressure,linguistic challenges posed by the speaker,adverse on-site environments,and cross-cultural issues.To further analyze these characteristics,a SWOT analysis is conducted,categorizing them into strengths,weaknesses,opportunities,and threats.Strategies are proposed accordingly,and a conclusion is drawn based on the findings.
