Understanding and Translation of Novel Metaphors in Financial English in the Cognitive Context
This paper focuses on the analysis of novel metaphors in financial and economic English, which often ex-hibit diverse forms and possess ambiguous metaphorical meanings.Interpreting and expressing such metaphors can be challenging due to their abstract nature. To address this issue, the paper adopts a cognitive context governance ap-proach to investigate the cognitive mechanisms involved in understanding novel metaphors. The study also explores the subjective and objective motivations behind translating these metaphors.Additionally, the paper proposes a con-vergence mechanism that combines the interpretation of metaphoric meanings and translation principles governed by cognitive contextual factors. The findings of this research offer theoretical insights for translation practitioners and re-searchers,serving as a useful reference for translation practices and teaching methods in this domain.
