Study on Intertextuality in the Translation of Multimodal Architectural Terms——A Case Study of A Pictorial History of Chinese Architecture
Drawing on Kristeva's intertextuality theory and employing multimodal analysis methods, this paper aims to examine and analyze the translation of architectural terms in Liang Sicheng's A Pictorial History of Chinese Architecture. The analysis will focus on three aspects:ideographic intertextuality, intertextuality within Chinese and foreign cultural do-mains,and associative intertextuality.Additionally, the paper will explore the pragmatic function and temporal value gen-erated by the intertextual connections of multimodal architectural terms, considering their conceptual, textual, and cultur-al significance. The objective is to broaden the channels for the overseas translation of Chinese ancient architectural cul-ture and effectively shape and transmit China's international image.
