Measurement and Comparative Study on the Integration of Digital Industry and Manufacturing Industry Between China and the United States
In the era of digital economy,accelerating digital industrialization and industrial digitization has become a"mandatory course"to achieve high-quality economic development.Meanwhile,China and the United States have attracted much attention in the in-ternational competition.Therefore,comparing the digital industry integration mode between China and the United States is of great sig-nificance for the future development of China's industry.In this paper,we utilize cross-industry M&A data to construct an industrial in-tegration network,and measure the integration of digital industry and manufacturing industry in China and the United States based on a comparative perspective.The study finds the followings.①There is complementary integration of digital industry and manufacturing in-dustry in China and the United States,and the focus area of integration is the digital product manufacturing industry;②There are differences in the scope of industrial integration between China and the United States,and the United States manufacturing industry has a wider coverage of the integration of the digital industry,but China has a strong momentum of catching up;③The degree of digitali-zation of the industries of the two countries is significantly higher than the degree of digital industrialization,and the key areas for inte-gration are knowledge and technology-intensive manufacturing and digital services.However,the digital economic foundation and indus-trial structure of the two countries lead to differences in the direction of digital industrialization,the United States is gradually reducing the digital industry mergers and acquisitions of manufacturing behavior,while China is the opposite.Therefore,on the one hand,China needs to promote the development of digital economy from strengthening the construction of digital infrastructure and accelerating digital technology innovation,and on the other hand,it needs the government and relevant departments to formulate different measures to promote the digital transformation of the manufacturing industry in terms of classification and industry.
