Research on Industry-University-Research Alliance portfolio Mode Repeatedness and Growth of Technology-based SMEs
It has become a common phenomenon for technology-based small and medium-sized enterprises(SMEs)to establish IUR alli-ance portfolios(IURAPs).Despite the evident repetitive patterns in the alliance models adopted by focal firms within IURAP configura-tion,there is a lack of sufficient exploration on this phenomenon in the academic community.Leveraging 2013-2020 panel data of 150 manufacturing technology-based SMEs listed on Chinese GEM Board, this study theoretically and empirically explores the impact path and contextual conditions of IURAP mode repeatedness on the growth performance of technology-based SMEs,and introduces China's u-nique informal institutional context factors from two dimensions of culture and trust as moderator variables. Results reveal that IURAP mode repeatedness has a significant and negative impact on growth performance of technology-based SMEs,and both regional cultural diversity level and regional social trust level weaken the negative impacts of IURAP mode repeatedness on growth performance of tech-nology-based SMEs.Research conclusions advance relevant research on alliance portfolio,IUR alliance and institution theory, and pro-vide practical guidance for technology-based SMEs to configure their IURAPs in order to promote IUR deep integration.
