The Impact of Global Technology Trade Network on the Position of Global Value Chain of Manufacturing Industry
This paper conducts an in-depth analysis of the characteristics of the global technology trade network and explores its impact on the position of the manufacturing global value chain.The study finds that the global technology trade network is becoming increasingly interconnected,exhibiting a"small core-large world"structure and evolving from unipolarity to multipolarity.The technological catch-up countries enhance their position in the manufacturing value chain by increasing their participation in the technology trade net-work.The intensity of technology trade connections has an inverted U-shaped relationship with the manufacturing value chain posi-tion.Both the"bridge function"within the technology trade network and the intensity of technology trade connections impact the global value chain position of technology leaders'manufacturing industries.In the case of China,technology trade has played a role in promoting the rise of China's manufacturing industry in the global value chain,but the marginal effect is diminishing.Relying solely on technology introduction and embedding in the technology trade network no longer meets the needs for high-quality development of the manufacturing industry.China should adhere to a"dual-driven"strategy of independent innovation and technology introduction,opti-mize the structure of technology trade,innovate cooperation methods,and expand into emerging fields such as digital technology trade,thereby accelerating the enhancement of China's technological supply capacity along the"Belt and Road"countries and regions.
