Resistance performance of RC frames with flexible infilled walls to progressive collapse
In order to study the resistance performance to progressive collapse of reinforced concrete(RC)frames with flexible infilled walls, finite element models of pure frame and RC frames with rigid or flexible infilled walls were established by using ABAQUS,and the reliability of the modeling method was validated. The effects of rigid and flexible infilled walls on the progressive collapse performance of RC frames were compared. The study investigated the effects of wall-frame connection stiffness, the pres-ence of tie bars, the number and type of construction columns, strength of the brick and mortar on the progressive collapse resistance of RC frames with the flexible infilled walls. The results show that the progressive collapse resistance and structural ductility of RC frames with flexible infilled walls are better.Filling high elastic materials between walls and frames, increasing the number of con-struction columns and improving the strength of mortar are all beneficial to improve the peak bearing capacity and ultimate bearing capacity of RC frames with flexible infilled walls to resist progressive collapse.Filling conventional caulking materials, setting type Ⅱconstruction columns and improving the strength of blocks could increase the peak bearing capacity while decrease the ultimate bear-ing capacity. The effect of setting tie bars is opposite.
