Performance of recycled asphalt mixture by microwave heating&vibratory mixing
To improve the application ratio of reclaimed asphalt pavement(RAP)blending in hot central plant recycling and the dura-bility performance of recycled asphalt mixture, different heating modes(electric blower heating and microwave heating)and different mixing modes(vibration mixing and traditional mixing)were employed to prepare recycled asphalt mixtures, and the performances were compared with hot mix asphalt.Hamburg wheel tracking test,semi-circular bending(SCB)test, overlay test(OT),dynamic modulus test,four-point bending fatigue test, and CT scan were used to evaluate the macroscopic and microscopic characteristics of the recycled asphalt mixture with a RAP content of 50%.The results show that microwave heating and vibration mixing can improve recycled asphalt mixtures'low-temperature,anti-reflective cracking and anti-fatigue performances.Differently, the high-temperature performance and dynamic modulus of the mixtures decreases. Moreover, the performance of recycled asphalt mixtures still has a certain gap with that of ordinary hot-mix asphalt mixtures, and the performance of recycled asphalt mixtures can be improved. The effect of heating mode on the performance of recycled asphalt mixture is more pronounced, and microwave heating and vibration mixing can enhance the internal pore distribution of the mixture and lower its internal pore size.Microwave heating and vibration mixing are proved to be suitable in the manufacture of recycled asphalt mixes in order to increase their service performance.
