Professional transformation paths of Chinese scientific journals sponsored by "Double First-Class" universities
[Purposes]This paper investigates the professional development of journals sponsored by "Double First-Class"universities from 2017 to 2021,aiming to provide a reference for the professional transformation of Chinese scientific journals sponsored by universities.[Methods]The China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI),journal websites,and new media platforms were searched for the publishing information,number of total articles published during 2017-2021,number of articles written by authors serving the corresponding universities,special columns/issues,publishing platforms,and staff of 156 scientific journals sponsored by 147 "Double First-Class" universities.With the obtained data,the professional transformation paths of the journals sponsored by"double first-class" universities were analyzed.[Findings]In 2017-2021,the"Double First-Class" initiative brought opportunities for the development of academic journals.The journals sponsored by the universities achieve professional transformation by adjusting journal orientation,special columns and issues,publishing platforms,and professional talents.These measures help to highlight the professional characteristics and improve the influences of the journals.[Conclusions]We propose a"discipline+" path for the professional transformation of journals sponsored by universities.By deeply integrating disciplines in various aspects such as the orientation,content,platform,and talents,these journals can develop relying on discipline development and meanwhile promote discipline progress,thus enhancing their professional influences.
