A brief report of statistics and analysis on Chinese scientific papers in 2022
[Purposes]Scientific papers published in China and abroad by Chinese researchers are analyzed to provide decision-making support for management personnel at all levels.[Methods]Based on authoritative databases,such as Science Citation Index(SCI),Ei Compendex,Conference Proceedings Citation Index-Science,Scopus,MEDLINE,Social Science Citation Index,and Chinese Scientific and Technical Papers and Citation Database,the number,discipline,and region distribution of excellent scientific papers and scientific papers in China,papers of fund projects,international coauthored papers,and Chinese social science papers were analyzed.[Findings]The number of excellent scientific papers in China is 595.8 thousand in 2022,up 24.0% from 2021.According to SCI,Chinese authors have produced about 735.6 thousand papers indexed by SCI in 2022.Chinese papers are cited 67.48 million times from 2013 to August 2023,increasing 18.3% compared with that in 2022 and ranking second in the world.On average,each Chinse paper is cited 15.19 times,increasing by 5.9% compared with that in 2022,but it is lower than the international average,which is 15.85 times per paper.[Conclusions]The number of Chinese scientific papers and the improvement of paper impact have increased rapidly in recent years,but the average cited frequency of each paper is still behind the international average.
