Author classification method and author group construction strategy of scientific journals:A case study of Journal of Clothing Research
[Purposes]In order to improve the quality of manuscript sources and realize the benign and sustainable development of scientific journals in textile and clothing, this paper puts forward the classification construction strategies for different types of authors.[Methods]With the authors of Journal of Clothing Research as an example,Price's Law,index calculation method, and mixed selection method were used to quantitatively analyze the number of articles published by all authors of Journal of Clothing Research from 2016 to 2022 and calculate their influence on the journal. This paper divided them into four categories:core authors, enterprising authors, potential authors, and growth authors, and put forward targeted classification construction strategies.[Findings]Authors with published articles of≥3 and an influence index of≥5 are the core authors of Journal of Clothing Research;those with published articles of≥3 and an influence index of≤-5 are the enterprising authors.Authors with one published article and an influence index of≥5 are potential authors, while those with one published article and an influence index of≤-5 are growth authors.Editors can carry out the classification construction of author groups and improve the quality of manuscript sources by maintaining core authors, providing services to enterprising authors, expanding potential authors, and cultivating growth authors.[Conclusions]The construction of author group classification is not only an important strategy to cultivate the author team and improve the quality of papers in scientific journals, but also an important link to promote the high-quality development of scientific journals.Scientific journals in textile and clothing need to pay attention to the construction of author teams, establish a solid foundation for the development of journals, and enhance their academic leadership abilities in the industry.
