Construction of cross-disciplinary special topics in medical journals of comprehensive universities in the context of new medical education:A case study of five medical journals in comprehensive universities
[Purposes]The concept of the new medical education put forward by the Ministry of Education points out a new direction for the construction of comprehensive medical special topics.The paper studies the construction of cross-disciplinary special topics in medical journals of five comprehensive universities in China and analyzes their influences and causes,so as to provide references for the specialized development of medical journals of other comprehensive universities.[Methods]Through the information search method,we investigated the situation of cross-disciplinary special topics set up by medical journals of comprehensive universities,such as the direction and preference of topics,the number of downloads and cited frequency of special topic papers,and corresponding WeChat official account transmission strategies.[Findings]The special topics of medical journals of comprehensive universities focus on the reporting of cross-disciplinary research results in the field of new medical education,which has a positive effect on the construction of new medical education,but the influence of the articles published in the cross-disciplinary special topics is not absolutely dominant compared with other articles in the journals.New media communication is mainly one-way communication,and some journals have more novel operation strategies.[Conclusions]Factors such as the direction of topic planning of cross-disciplinary special topics of medical journals of comprehensive universities,publication time,article selection,authorship,and dissemination strategy are all important factors affecting the influence of articles.Comprehensive university medical journals should focus on the cutting edge in special topic settings to achieve differentiated development.At the same time,they should actively improve the editorial service capacity and explore the transmission path by new public media in combination with the content of the new medical special topics.
