Value flow mechanism and optimization strategy of scientific journal industry chain
[Purposes]This paper aims to analyze the structure and value flow patterns within the scientific journal industry chain,to offer recommendations for optimizing the value.[Methods]Using the basic theory of knowledge management, this paper delineated the upstream, midstream, and downstream components of the knowledge chain within scientific journals.Based on the value chain theory and integrating it with the scientific journal industry chain, this paper elucidated the value activities across sub-chains such as the supply chain,value-added chain, and output chain, thereby elucidating the value flow across various segments of the scientific journal industry.[Findings]Centering on the flow of knowledge, this paper constructs a structural diagram of the scientific journal industry chain, encompassing upstream production and organization, midstream distribution and dissemination, and downstream service and application.Additionally,an analysis of value flow among modules is conducted from a value appreciation perspective, culminating in the construction of a value flow model for the scientific journal industry chain.[Conclusions]The scientific journal industry chain faces challenges including value flow blockages, inadequate depth expansion, and imbalanced benefit distribution. To address these challenges, scientific journals should surmount resource barriers to foster synergistic sharing, expedite the attraction of capital infusion while delineating revenue mechanisms, deeply excavate content resources, explore cross-border value-added channels, and enhance technical capabilities to innovate the industrial ecosystem.
