Development status and optimization strategies of knowledge services in Chinese core journals of Geography
[Purposes]This study aims to analyze the current situation of knowledge services in Chinese core journals of Geography and propose optimization strategies, providing a reference for the improvement and upgrading of knowledge services in scientific journals.[Methods]We focused on 20 core Chinese Geography journals listed in A Guide to the Core Journal of China(2020 Edition).Data were primarily collected from journals'official websites and WeChat official accounts regarding their specific forms of knowledge service. In addition, the knowledge services provided by the cluster platform of geographic scientific journals, the Journals of Chinese Geographic&Resource Science, were investigated.[Findings]In most core Chinese Geography journals, knowledge services are primarily concentrated on the first level of digital information services(basic services such as online publication, paper recommendation, and paper query services)and the second level of knowledge product services(knowledge search and knowledge discovery). The forms and quantity of third-level knowledge solutions(tools and applications, mobile and social services, multimedia services)are relatively limited. The current knowledge services provided by the Journals of Chinese Geographic&Resource Science focus on the second level of knowledge product services and also involve the third level of knowledge solutions, although some information updates are lagging.[Conclusions]Overall, the knowledge services of Chinese core journals in Geography are still in the initial stage and can be promoted in the future through the following approaches:improve easily implementable forms of knowledge service and enhance the user experience;develop tool services to support scientific research;integrate with new media technology to realize the"content+";expand the promotion and dissemination of key topics to better facilitate industry application and decision-making support;retain private domain traffic of the journals as a precise target for knowledge services;leverage the discipline cluster network to conduct knowledge services and establish a social service platform.
