Analysis of citation advantage of Chinese open access journal papers:An empirical analysis on Library and Information Service
[Purposes]This study employs empirical analysis to investigate whether Chinese open access(OA)journal papers confer a citation advantage, aiming to offer empirical annotations and references for the OA transformation of Chinese scientific journals.[Methods]We utilized a sample of 3949 papers published in Library and Information Service from 2013 to 2021 for t-tests,multiple linear regression analysis, propensity score matching and its regression analysis, and heterogeneity tests to verify whether OA enjoyed a citation advantage.[Findings]OA papers demonstrate a significant citation advantage, and the conclusions are robust.Furthermore, the annual core authors and the level of the first author's institution also exert a significant positive impact on the citation count of papers.[Conclusions]It is recommended that Chinese journals explore their potential for improvement, align with international standards, and actively promote the transformation to OA.Moreover, increasing funding for the OA transformation of Chinese journals, enhancing centralized OA platforms, and promoting the development of OA transformation of Chinese journals are advocated.
