Analysis and enlightenment of the development process of paper-related data collection in scientific journals
[Purposes]Paper-related data collection for scientific journals is a crucial prerequisite for advancing the openness, sharing, and reuse of research data.Analyzing the development process of paper-related data submission helps clarify the stage and shortcomings of data submission efforts in China, and provides insights for optimization and improvement.[Methods]Through network research and comparative analysis,we reviewed the development stages, landmark events, and evolutionary path of international paper-related data collection. We also examined the core participants and their main responsibilities.[Findings]The evolution of international data collection of scientific journals can be divided into three stages:data archiving, data publishing, and data quality control. In these stages, the data repository provides infrastructure support, publishers implement submission standards and processes, funders facilitate multi-agent cooperation, governments set macro-policy directions, and researchers perform the execution and provide feedback.[Conclusions]Compared with international developments,China needs to enhance cooperation between data repositories and scientific journals, improve the evaluation mechanisms for scientific achievements, address the needs and feedback of researchers, and strengthen research data quality control. These measures will promote the advancement of paper-related data collection for scientific journals in China.
