Analysis of the rights and interests in the scientific journals industry chain under the influence of generative artificial intelligence
[Purposes]This study aims to sort out the constituent elements and rights relationships of the scientific journals industry chain,identify potential rights issues,and propose corresponding countermeasures,with a focus on the impact of generative artificial intelligence(GenAI),to promote the sustainable development of the scientific journals industry.[Methods]Utilizing secondary data analysis,this study followed the main thread of"composition of the scientific journals industry chain—rights relationships of stakeholders—strategies for addressing potential rights issues".[Findings]The current scientific journals industry chain is primarily composed of nine paper versions and three developmental forms,involving multiple stakeholders such as authors and journal editors.The most significant impact of GenAI is observed on the developmental form subsequent to the data version,as it is no longer directly between readers,authors,and journals,but rather around the development of corpus and large language models,making the rights and interests more complex.[Conclusions]In response to the potential issues under the influence of GenAI,the proposed suggestions include:clearly defining the scope of fair use at the legal level,clearly delineating the scope of authorization and licensing at the contractual level,and establishing a holistic view of the industry chain at the journal level,strive to provide the maximum impetus for China's scientific endeavors.
