The Current Situation and Problems of the U.S. R&D Infrastructure and the Implications for China
The United States has maintained its leading position in global science and technology for a long time. An important supporting factor is the large investment in Research and Development infrastructure,which provides a knowledge base for various scientific research activities and produces extensive spillover effects. In May 2024,the White House's Office of Science and Technology Policy released the National Science and Technology Council's report U.S. Federal Research and Development Infrastructure-A Foundation of the Nation's Global Scientific Leadership and Economic and National Security,made an assessment of issues facing the United States' research and development infrastructures and their impact on the nation's status as a global leader in Science and Technology,and proposed a number of countermeasures.
