福尔摩斯系列侦探小说译本(1896-1916年)中科学名词的翻译研究

摘要
晚清至民国期间,在西学东渐和小说界革命的影响下,福尔摩斯系列侦探小说也被当作一种学习西方科学文化的文本而被译介到中国.但当时西方科学知识体系在中国尚未译介完整,且普通公众对小说中的科学内容也存在理解障碍.于是译者采取了沿用法、借鉴法、音译-注解法、解释法和省略法翻译小说中的科学名词,帮助读者理解小说中的科学内容.这些译本作为小说界革命成果的一部分在当时大受欢迎,也对读者了解西方科学文化产生了积极的影响,但距小说界革命宣称的"开通民智""改良社会"的社会目的还相差甚远.
Abstract
Under the influence of the spread of Western learning to the East and the revolution in fictions,Sherlock Holmes's detective stories were also translated into Chinese as a means to learn about Western science and culture during the late Qing dynasty to the Republic of China period.However,Western scientific knowledge was not fully introduced to China at that time,and it is difficult for the general public to understand the scientific contents of the stories.Therefore,the translator adopted the methods of reference,transliteration,interpretation and ellipsis to translate the scientific terms of the story.As part of the achievements of the fiction revolution,these translations of Sherlock Holmes's detective stories were very popular at that time,and also helped readers to understand the Western science and culture.However,they fell short of the social goals of"enlightening the public intellect"and"improving society"which were declared by the fiction revolution.
