The General Registration of Natural Science Workers from 1949 to 1950 and Analysis of Its Data
The general registration of natural science workers from 1949 to 1950 was the first large-scale survey of scientific and technological talents conducted in the People's Republic of China(PRC).It has corrected many previous misconceptions and provided the scientific and technological community with a clearer understanding of the number and distribution of scientific and technological talents in China.Previously, the academic community generally regarded it merely as a procedural step in the process of electing representatives for the first national congress of natural science workers in China, often glossing over its significance.Based on relevant literature, this paper has firstly reviewed the initiation and implementation process of this registration.Drawing on data such as the Statistical Tables of Registered and Approved Natural Science Workers in China,it also conducted analysis and research to explore the overall situation of scientific and technological talents at the beginning of the PRC.
