Insights from the Medical History——A Review of Cheng Zhifan's Medical History
In May 2023,Peking University Medical Press published Cheng Zhifan's Medical History to commemorate the 70-year hard work of Professor Cheng,a pioneer in study of medical history in China.The book adheres to Prof.Cheng's three-part structure,consisting of International Medical History,Traditional Chinese Medical History and Modern Chinese Medical History,with amendments to reflect the academic inheritance across generations.It includes updates of the latest medical advancements.Other new contents manifest a particular focus on the medicines of Chinese ethnic minorities,such as that of Tibetan,Mongolian,and Dai.As one of the textbooks for undergraduate medical education during the 14th Five-Year Plan period(2021-2025),it emphasizes the role of medical history courses,integrates medical history with ideological and political education,emphasizing correct values.All in all,the book aims to review the past for new insights and to learn from the history for a better future.
