PISA 2025 Assessment of Young People's Science Identity:Features and Implications
Science identity has emerged as a prominent research focus in science education.The OECD has incorporated science identity into the PISA 2025 Science Framework Draft,replacing the previous dimension of science attitude,and regards it as the cornerstone of the new framework.PISA maintains its fundamental ideology of fostering global citizens with a scientific spirit and commitment to action,adhering to an integrated assessment goal that encompasses cognition,emotion and behavior.Additionally,PISA has constructed a systematic framework for assessing young people's science identity,incorporating dimensions of 1)science capital and epistemic beliefs,2)attitudes and dispositions,and 3)environmental awareness,concern and agency.By combining cognitive and non-cognitive assessment tools,PISA aims to provide an objective and comprehensive portrayal of the multifaceted nature of science identity.The principle,goals,content,and tool development of the PISA 2025 assessment of young people's science identity offer significant insights for China's endeavors to establish an assessment framework for fostering core science competencies of primary and secondary school students.
