Antibiotics are a key tool for preventing and treating bacterial infections, and despite their early success, the treatment of bacterial infections remains one of the world's greatest health challenges due to the emergence and spread of drug-resistant bacteria.Improving the existing antibiotic drug delivery system is one of the most promising research strategies to overcome this problem. In recent years, liposome drug delivery systems have been widely used due to their unique properties, which can effectively increase the local concentration of antibiotics at the site of inflammation, improve the biological distribution and pharmacokinetics of drugs, inhibit the generation of bacterial-induced drug resistance, and help to reduce the systemic dose of drugs and reduce toxic side effects of drugs. In this paper, the research progress of liposomes as antibiotic carriers was reviewed, and the advantages and disadvantages of liposomes as antibiotic carriers were briefly introduced in order to provide references for the research and development of antibiotic liposomes.
