The current management status of antimicrobial stewardship in medical institutions in Jining City,Shandong Province
Objective To investigate the current management status of antimicrobial stewardship(AMS)in medical institutions in Jining city,Shandong Province and provide the basis for the development of interventions to refine AMS and resistance control.Methods A questionnaire survey was conducted on secondary and higher medical institutions in Jining city,Shandong Province.The survey included the basic situation of the hospital,the supports of the hospital for AMS,the requirements for clinical departments,and the training of AMS.Results A total of 39 medical institutions were investigated in this study.More than 50%of medical institutions have established AMS teams and formulated AMS management systems.61.5%of medical institutions realized the hierarchical management of antibiotics with the help of information technology.59.0%and 41.0%of these institutions had carried out special file management of carbapenems and tigacycline.Only 25.6%of these hospitals provided special funds to support AMS activities.According to different departments,48.7%and 53.8%of the medical institutions formulated the intensity requirements and utilization targets of antibiotics.More than 30%of medical institutions failed to meet the national improvement target.76.9%of medical institutions conducted AMS training for clinicians,but only 6.7%of them had more than 3 or more training sessions.The medical institutions that provided training for nursing staff and conducted regular education activities for outpatients and inpatients accounted for 41.0%and 30.8%,respectively.The differences between tertiary and secondary hospitals were reflected in the use of information technology,special file management,allocation of special funds,consultation,patient education,etc.(P<0.05).Conclusion Most medical institutions in this region applied the AMS management strategy,but it is necessary to strengthen the support for AMS management,strengthen the training and publicity of rational use of antibiotics,and improve the awareness of rational use of antibiotics in medical institutions.
