Spatial Alienation and Its Sublation in the Age of Digital Capitalism
Different modes of production give rise to distinct spatial attributes, and the capitalist mode of production alienates the space for human survival and development into a space for capital proliferation. In the era of digital capitalism, the coupling of capital logic and digital technology has resulted in a deeper manifestation of spatial alienation, specifically characterized by"time-space compression",leading to confusion in spatial perception,"digital scorched earth"further depriving living spaces, and"spatial disembedding"creating subjects with"rootless life".This alienation stems from the expansion of capital in digital spaces,a result of the interactive reinforcement of the capitalization of digital spaces and the spatialization of capital. In this regard, only by transforming capitalist private ownership, disrupting the capital domination of digital technology, destroying the inherent exploitative attributes of space under the capitalist system,at the same time,by understanding the essence of capitalist digital space and exerting the agency of the subject, can we achieve the reconstruction of spatial relationships.Only through the overall transformation of the relationship between capital, space, and subject can we abandon the spatial pattern that has been alienated by capital and return space to the true direction of human free development.
