Social Network Site Use and Depression in Adolescents: Mediating of Upward Social Comparison
Objective:The present study was to investigate the relationship between social network site use,upward social comparison and depression in adolescents.Methods:Totally 603 adolescents were assed with Social Network Site Intensity Scale,Iowa-Netherlands Comparison Orientation Measure for Chinese Adolescents and CES-D Self-Report Depression Scale.Results:①Sooial Network Site Intensity was positively correlated with upward social comparison,and Upward social comparison was positively correlated with depression; ②Social network site intensity affected depression through the mediating effect of upward social comparison.Conclusion:Upward social comparison partially mediates the relationship between Social network site use and depression.
